Course Overview
A Fellowship in Preventive Cardiology offers specialized training in the identification, prevention, and management of cardiovascular diseases. The program focuses on lifestyle interventions, risk factor modification, and evidence-based medical therapies to prevent heart disease in at-risk populations. Fellows gain expertise in cardiovascular risk assessment, preventive strategies, and the implementation of public health measures to reduce the incidence of heart disease.
What you’ll learn
- Mastery in identifying risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and family history to stratify patients’ cardiovascular risk.
- Training in designing and implementing lifestyle modifications including diet, exercise, smoking cessation, and stress management to prevent heart disease.
- Proficiency in the use of medications such as statins, antihypertensives, and antiplatelet agents for the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
- Skills in utilizing diagnostic tools like coronary calcium scoring, echocardiograms, and stress tests to assess cardiovascular risk.
- Understanding of public health strategies to reduce cardiovascular disease at a population level, including screening programs and health policy.
- Expertise in addressing the components of metabolic syndrome, such as obesity, insulin resistance, and hypertension, to reduce heart disease risk.
- Training in the role of genetics in cardiovascular disease and the use of genetic screening to identify high-risk individuals.
Eligibilty & Requirement
- MD/DNB (Medicine) DM Cardiology / DNB Cardiology
- No previous experience is needed.
