Course Overview
A Fellowship in Pediatric Rheumatology provides in-depth training in diagnosing and managing autoimmune and inflammatory disorders affecting children. The program covers conditions such as juvenile idiopathic arthritis, lupus, vasculitis, and other connective tissue diseases. Fellows gain hands-on experience with immunomodulatory therapies, advanced diagnostic techniques, and a multidisciplinary approach to improve long-term outcomes for pediatric patients with rheumatic diseases.
What you’ll learn
- Expertise in diagnosing and managing various subtypes of JIA, including systemic, oligoarticular, and polyarticular forms.
- Skills in diagnosing and treating pediatric lupus and its complications, including nephritis and neuropsychiatric involvement.
- Training in identifying and managing vasculitis syndromes such as Kawasaki disease and Henoch-Schönlein purpura.
- Mastery of advanced pharmacologic treatments, including biologics, DMARDs, and corticosteroids for pediatric autoimmune conditions.
- Proficiency in using imaging, laboratory tests, and clinical assessment to diagnose complex rheumatic diseases in children.
- Experience working with pediatricians, orthopedic surgeons, and physical therapists to provide comprehensive care for children with chronic rheumatic conditions.
- Opportunities to participate in clinical research focused on discovering new treatments and improving outcomes for pediatric rheumatic diseases.
- Development of empathetic patient care approaches tailored to the needs of children with chronic, complex conditions.
