Course Overview
A Fellowship in Fetal Medicine provides advanced training in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of fetal conditions and complications during pregnancy. The program focuses on prenatal screening, ultrasound diagnostics, fetal interventions, and the care of high-risk pregnancies. Fellows gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies to detect congenital anomalies, monitor fetal growth, and manage complex pregnancies, preparing them for leadership in maternal-fetal medicine.
What you’ll learn
- Mastery of high-resolution ultrasound techniques to diagnose fetal anomalies, monitor fetal development, and assess placental health.
- Training in performing invasive fetal procedures such as amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling (CVS), and in-utero therapies
- Expertise in interpreting prenatal genetic screening results and identifying chromosomal abnormalities and genetic disorders.
- Skills in managing high-risk pregnancies involving fetal growth restriction, multiple pregnancies, and maternal conditions affecting the fetus.
- Proficiency in assessing fetal heart function and diagnosing congenital heart defects using echocardiography.
- Experience in collaborating with obstetricians, neonatologists, geneticists, and pediatric surgeons to provide comprehensive care for mother and fetus.
- Training in counseling expectant parents on fetal diagnoses, treatment options, and potential outcomes
- Exposure to the planning and management of complex cases requiring fetal surgery for life-threatening conditions.
- Development of ethical decision-making skills for handling sensitive cases, including fetal anomalies and prenatal counseling.
