Course Overview
A Fellowship in Clinical Echocardiography offers specialized training in the use of ultrasound technology to assess heart function and diagnose cardiovascular diseases. This program focuses on advanced echocardiographic techniques such as transthoracic (TTE), transesophageal (TEE), and stress echocardiography. Fellows gain hands-on experience in performing and interpreting echocardiograms, helping them diagnose conditions like heart failure, valve disease, and congenital heart defects, preparing them for expert roles in cardiovascular imaging.
What you’ll learn
- Mastery of transthoracic (TTE), transesophageal (TEE), and stress echocardiography for assessing heart function and structure.
- In-depth understanding of the heart’s anatomy and common cardiovascular diseases such as heart failure, valve disorders, and cardiomyopathies.
- Advanced skills in using Doppler ultrasound and 3D echocardiography to assess blood flow, heart valves, and chamber sizes.
- Expertise in evaluating and managing valvular diseases, including stenosis and regurgitation, through imaging.
- Performing and interpreting stress echocardiograms to assess coronary artery disease and myocardial ischemia.
- Developing skills in making evidence-based clinical decisions based on echocardiographic findings.
- Experience in using echocardiography to guide surgical procedures and monitor heart function during surgery.
